Donald Trump reels as his Iran plans fall from collapse to an even greater disaster. Amid seemingly trying to negotiate a ceasefire to Washington’s ongoing provocations and attacks against land-based installations and oil tankers near the Strait of Hormuz. The didn’t go well. Iran retaliated with serious and destructive attacks to American bases in Jordan. After striking up to nine Iranian oil tankers, twenty US battleships were attacked with Iran’s formidable missiles.
Predictably, Iran’s retaliation was denied by US military source Centcom (abbreviation for Central Command). Trump subsequently appeared on media denying this himself, adding his ongoing mantra that Iran is losing, can’t hold out much longer, and that would be finished off after the midterm Congress Elections. Eyewitness and video evidence to the contrary are completely ignored.
People are asking why this bold faced and transparent lying? It is easy to see that he, his administration, and those pulling the strings behind closed doors are in a difficult place. They launched war against Iran, without a proper understanding of the country and the willingness of its people to stand up against the invader. There was no quick victory for Washington. Not even a slow victory. They are looking at the jaws of defeat instead.
The military might of the United States was not enough to win the day. Not even enough to steal Iran’s Strait of Hormuz and take control of the oil. The lying is to cover up the embarrassment of defeat and the most recent attempt to find a way out, while pretending that they have won. Iran has chosen that it doesn’t want a pretend ending that will give Washington and Israel time to re-arm and strike again. There is no trust in agreements made with Trump anyway. He has a habit of breaking them as soon as they are signed.
Anger over exposed military impotency plays a part in driving US actions. Iran has played a huge role in revealing that the once dominant power is weakening, and that this might give other nations ideas about pulling away form the American orbit. The truth is that this is already happening. There is the hesitancy of the Gulf oil kingdoms, and the beginnings of a new alliance of West Asia nations. It doesn’t stop here.
Tied up with military failure is a loss in economic and political strength. Even key political leader supporters of alliance with the United States are now much quitter about it. The United States has lost its shine. This might have been inevitable anyway, but Donald Trump and his gang of clowns have helped to push it along faster.
Anger is also fed by the threat that the actions of the US have piled on top of already existing major economic headwinds and made the prospect of a much deeper crisis a more likely reality. This is not just about an oil shortage. Nor principally about military costs. These do have an effect. The most fundamental problem is a sick economy because of internal contradictions and poor management, and the possibility of correcting these is moving further out of reach.
Donald Trump therefore stands before the press at the airport not looking well, angry, and even more abusive than usual. The coming mid-term election looks decidedly gloomy for him. He is looking like a loser.
In desperation he makes a particularly dangerous person with the potential to ignite a global conflict. The world must realise this and put a stop to it.
Before finishing . it is prudent tot ask, why in the hell is Australia putting up with this? There is a bipartisanship in the parliament over this, and it doesn’t reflect what the people of Australia want.
