A year of lying about Nord Stream

Acclaimed investigative journalist and winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Seymour Hersh, wrote the following article (published in Subtack 26 September 20203). It is about who blew up the Baltic Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines from Russia to Germany. In February, his published investigation that pointed the finger at the Biden Administration earned him personal rebuke and led to unsubstantiated alternative explanations. Seymour Hersh has more to say here, and this is based on information received from his contacts. It adds to the already widely know truth that the attack was planned and executed by a team of the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Mobilising a mass movement to prevent war is now increasingly urgent

The following by Bevan Ramsden published as an editorial by the Independent and Peacefull Australia coalition is timely, given the escalation of Australia’s participation in war games, which are promoting the escalation of tensions with China. Unfortunately, the Albanese government has proved to be an especially willing pawn in Washington’s geopolitical ambitions to thwart China’s rise through gunboat diplomacy. Doing this is contributing to increasing the risk of a catastrophic war, and the only way to stop this is through a mass movement, such as the one that put an end to involvement in the Vietnam war in 1972.

NATO summit in Vilnius proved to be a major failure

Contributed

The just concluded NATO summit in Vilnius ended by producing little, except to reveal uncertainty and lack of member unity. This was supposed to be a stage-managed affair, showing the world solid support for the Kyiv side of the war in Ukraine, and a determined launch of NATO presence in Asia. Neither was delivered. A peace movement is needed to put an end to Ukraine war

By Joe Montero

I have put some effort into trying to make sense of the present battlefield offensive pf the Kiev forces in Ukraine. After trolling through claims and counter claims and getting a sense of the military strategies of both sides, some things have become quite obvious. These do not sit well with the barrage of media propaganda. Continue reading A peace movement is needed to put an end to Ukraine war

Australia must let go of reliance on a declining United States to secure our future

 By Joe Montero

The elite that dominates the United States is running scared. Two prominent issues reveal this. One is the fear of the rise of China, and the other is what is the future of the economy and politics at home. The second one is at present being fought out in the battle over the government debt ceiling. Both are signs of the new uncertainty. The military expenditure blowout does not serve Australia’s interests

By Joe Montero

The cost of Australia’s new military expenditure is much more than most of us think. Attention is on the AUKUS submarine program. It doesn’t stop here though.

But let’s start with the submarines. We were told that they would cost $368 billion. They didn’t tell us that an extra $122 billion have been committed. This means that the expectation of escalating costs has already been factored in. The estimated real cost is up to $490 billion, and this is only the current estimate. The cost could go higher still. NATO steps up its ideological and strategic war

By Jim Hayes

NATO has stepped up its war on China at this week’s meeting in Madrid. There may not be a plan to invade with guns blazing but there has been a definite ideological tilt towards and aggressive posture. There is talk about challenges and threats. Yet no one has been able to show China poses a military threat. This is the face of the new cold war. Continue reading NATO steps up its ideological and strategic war
