Scott Morrison goes to London and the G7 summit in Cornwall. Australia is not a member of the group and there because of an invitation from the United Sates to be an observer. The Australian Prime Minister was going to shine at a private meeting with United States President Joe Biden. But the presence of British Prime Minister put an end to this. Morrison government turning Australia into a U.S. military base and allowing more Marines into Darwin

The message coming out from early G7 connected talks between Australia and the United States, is that there will be an expansion of joint military activity. A new joint brigade made up of U.S. Marines and Australian Defence Forces (ADF) is to be based in Darwin. Although there is talk of rotating the command on the ground between the two nations, real control will remain in the hands of the United States. New Medicare cut is part of ambition to destroy Australia’s affordable public health system

Assange’s father and brother touring U.S. to demand journalist’s freedom
Jessica Corbett covers the coming U.S. tour by Julian Assange’s father John Shipton and brother Gabriel Shipton (Common Dreams 28 May 2021). Starting on 6 June, the tour plans to meet up with activists, journalists and policy makers, to lift support o the call for Julian’s freedom and against attacks on a free press. Julian Assange is the founder of WikiLeaks and hunted by Washington for revealing inconvenient truths.

Time to silence the drums of war
The following article by Joseph Camilleri (Pears and Irritations 5 May 2021) deals with the present hyping up of fear over China and war talk, as a case of déjà-vu, of the cold War hysteria that led us into a succession of disastrous and unjustified wars in the past.
